Sondra is the first daughter of Huxtable house. At the beginning, it is a character of second plain, since frequenting the Princeton University, she is often out of the house. Only from the second series, she starts to become a character almost fixed, for cover, in the following series, a more decisive role. She is a very serious girl, and besides she is also very intelligent and hard-working, and for this she is the preferred of Cliff. She is very in love of Elvin, a boy that she has known at the university, and among tall and low, before graduating, she decides to marry with him. Once married, for a certain period of time, she becomes the cross of Cliff: in fact he has wanted to see her graduated, but instead Sondra decides to open a shop for camping articles with her husband, challenge the fate and the economic problems. The two, in fact, are constrained in the first months of their matrimony to live in an abominable one room apartment; then, while Sondra is in sweet delay, with the help of the Huxtable consorts, the two succeed to grab a new more dignified and snug house (however, it didn't want much for being snugger than the they first apartment!). Arrived to the day of the birth, with big surprise of all, Sondra gives the light two twin: Nelson and Winnie, called as in honor of the sons of Nelson Mandela.

Portraying Sondra Huxtable Tibideaux, Cliff and Clair Huxtable's conscientious eldest daughter and the mother of twins, classical actress Sabrina LaBeauf drew on her extensive stage experience which brought a unique and vibrant personality to her role. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, LeBeauf grew up in Los Angeles and earned her undergraduate degree in theater arts from UCLA. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, from which she received a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting. She also studied under New York acting coach Bobby Lewis. Her New York debut was in Michael Eisenberg's "Hackers" at the Manhattan Punchline Theatre. She also performed with the Eugene O'Neill National Playwright's Conference in "The Quiet in the Land," "Tough Girls," and "Oak and Ivey." Among LeBeauf's stage roles were those of Rosalind in "As You Like It," and Cordelia in "King Lear," both productions at the Shakespeare Theatre at the Folger in Washington, D.C.
